Password Reset - How to Change Your Password
Introduction
This article highlights how to change your computer / Microsoft login password.
- Your RDO, PM or IT will communicate a new password to you.
- After changing your password your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) methods will also be reset. Set up new MFA using this article.
Process
There are two ways to reset your password:
- Logging into a Windows computer.
- Navigating to Office.com
Reset Password by Logging Into Windows Computer
If you are already logged into Windows, log off.

At the Windows login screen, enter your regular username.
Enter the password provided by your RDO, PM or IT.

NOTE: If the password you were provided does not work, try logging in with your old password. If you log in successfully, lock your computer and log in with the new password. You should be prompted to change it.
To lock your computer: Single click the Windows icon on the taskbar > Single click the power button icon > Select Lock

You will be prompted to create a new password.

After creating a new password you will be logged into Windows. After a few minutes, your new Windows password becomes your email password. You do not need to change your email password separately.

Reset Password from Office.com
Navigate to Office.com and select sign in.
Enter your full email address.

Enter the password provided by your RDO, PM or IT.

You will be prompted to change your password.

You will receive a prompt stating "More information required".

You will be presented steps to set up new MFA methods. Follow the steps in this article.
After setting up MFA methods if you have not logged into your computer with your new password, restart your computer and log in with your new password.
